Another Pot Calling the Kettle Black

Attacks have taken place a number of embarrassing incidents against Jews, especially in Europe, since the recent war in the Gaza Strip, which have to be anti-Semitic. Some have also argued that an increase occurs in anti-Semitism. Though the incidents are a nuisance that they anti-Semitic or that there is an increase of anti-Semitism is not clear.

Anti-Semitism is a prejudice that is based as an unfavorable attitude toward an entire group of people on a minor feature and is defined without giving full consideration. To unfavorable view of Jews, just because they are Jews, is anti-Semitism. To unfavorable view of the Jews, the actions of Israel in the Gaza Strip is not.

Certainly there are anti-Semitic people. They are widespread, especially in Christian Europe since antiquity. Despite the proliferation of anti-Semitism may have been the end of the Second World War diminished, no one can be that specific. With the rise of so-called politically correct language, anti-Semites can only have muted their opinions, and although it is likely that some of the people who have been directed taken at the recent events on Jewish anti-Semites, it is not obvious that all were of them. So those who are called anti-Semitic incidents that presents itself a prejudice.

The Jews in Israel to some astonishing claims, the most frequently mentioned, one of which is that Israel is a right to be-a claim that has no historical basis has. Throughout history, many nations have come and gone, including the ancient people of Israel. The Babylonians, the Persians, the Scythians, the Carthaginians, the Aztecs, the Incas, the Algonquin, the Seminoles, the American Confederacy, the USSR, Yugoslavia, the Republic of Texas, all gone! None of them had a right to exist, why modern Israel should have that right?

And although I can not be sure, this seems to show my anecdotal evidence, that calls the power of the Jewish Holocaust to the decline. The Holocaust was a horrific event, were subjected to no nation. But most people living today do not even know what the word refers. Most of those who know only through her pictures in pounds or on the walls of Holocaust museums. The images of those who died in the Gaza Strip recently, much more alive. And to the dead, it makes no difference whether they died of Zyklon B, rockets, bombs or bullets.

On Sunday 18 January the Dallas Morning News in a guest post by Rod Dreher wrote, entitled “A new lesson about why Israel is so necessary.” It is itself a piece of hate.

Mr. Dreher writes, “those who believe that the Jewish state will not tolerate open missile from a neighboring fanatical theocracy on their Destruction launched, should ask themselves whether they expect any other nation would tolerate such a thing should be.” Note the loaded and false phrase “fanatical neighboring theocracy.” If I am not mistaken, Gaza is a democratic institution, with a duly elected Hamas government. Is it fanatical? Maybe! But there is no fanatical Israelis? What about those in illegal settlements in the West Bank? But more importantly, Mr. Dreher should be asked whether he would expect any other nation to suffer the repression of the population and the seizure of his country’s quiet and peaceful. What would Mr. Dreher and other Texans do if the UN Security Council decided that what is now Texas really is one of the Apache nation and gave it back. If all the Texans say only move okay and to Oklahoma to pick up and peacefully? That is just plain stupid, Mr. Dreher, very stupid!

But the extreme disorder of the play Mr. Leno is his prejudices. He writes, “a Jewish friend … … Fuhr, when he noticed a truck in front of him said …. One of the stickers on the bumper:” obliterate Israel “on the side of a mushroom cloud.” Since this event was held in Austin, which Mr. Dreher calls “ultra-liberal”, he makes it “anti-Semitism” on the topic “Muslims and the left edge.” How could he know? Has he made to all people who have participated, discussed in anti-Israeli demonstrations? How does he know that the driver of the car, a “shiny red pick-up” is not really a dyed in the wool Texan redneck? Texan rednecks love of bright red pickup truck driving, often with their gun mounts in the rear windows and Texas, if full of them. Mr. Dreher, a conservative journalist who dislikes liberals, all of them, regardless of why they hold that view. He is also a Christian who dislikes Muslims, all of them! I suspect that he also believes that each and every one of them is a fanatic, “but nobody in the American Christian right is. They look just like bias to me. So, before calling the kettle black, the black should Mr. Dreher its own pot scrubbing, and remember, it was conservative Christians, the Holocaust of the Jews, Muslims or non-ultraliberals added.

There is no question that the Jews in Israel are in a difficult situation, but the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank or even Lebanon have. But the Israelis have not done much to make things better and have done much to make things worse. And if the Israeli government, its supporters and those who, like Mr Dheher call anti-Israeli anti-Semitic demonstrations, they are just another scapegoat for their own actions.
